Here's what men have been asking for at our Dubai Marina shop this year, and who each cut suits. Screenshot the line that says what to ask for and show it to your barber.
Textured crop with a low fade
Short, choppy texture on top with a soft fade on the sides. It looks fine with almost no product, which helps when it's 40 degrees outside.
Ask for a textured crop with a low or mid fade and a matte finish.
Burst fade and the modern mullet
The fade curves around the ear and the length stays at the back. Keep it tidy and it looks current, not eighties.
Ask for a burst fade, length kept at the nape and texture on top.
The mid part and longer hair
Medium-length hair parted in the middle and left to move. It works on wavy and straight hair and grows out without looking messy.
Ask for a scissor cut with the weight taken out and no clippers on the sides. Book Kim for this one.
Buzz cut with a sharp shape-up
The simplest cut there is. What makes it look good is a clean line-up and neckline.
Ask for a buzz cut, the clipper number you like, and a line-up.
Taper with a natural top
For people who don't want to show skin. The taper tidies the sideburns and neckline and leaves the rest natural.
Ask for a low taper and a scissor cut on top.
Cornrows and design braids
Braids are a big one in Dubai right now, from plain straight-backs to custom designs. Nothing to style day to day.
Your hair needs at least 2 inches for cornrows and 5 inches for design braids.
Silver and toned colour
Grey blending if you want it to look natural, or bleach and tone for silver if you want people to notice.
Grey coverage is from AED 200. Silver is from AED 700 and takes 3 hours or more.
Questions we get asked
What's the most popular men's haircut in Dubai right now?
Fades, still. Usually a mid skin fade, or a taper with some texture on top.
Which haircut is best for the Dubai heat?
Short sides. A high fade or a buzz cut with a shape-up keeps you cooler and needs almost no product.
